Stanislas Wawrinka has progressed through to the fourth round of the Miami Masters courtesy of a 7-5 6-4 victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin this evening.
Roger-Vasselin had the first chance to take control of proceedings in the ninth game of the opening set when he carved out two break points against Wawrinka, but the number three seed fought back to hold.
Wawrinka then came up with the all-important break in the final game of the set, taking advantage of his fourth break point to take the opener 7-5.
The Swiss player made a perfect start to the second set, holding his own serve before breaking Roger-Vasselin in his first service game to take complete control of the match.
However, the Frenchman fought back in the seventh game, registering his first break of the match to restore parity in the set.
Wawrinka was not to be denied, however, and won against the serve in the 10th game to take the second set 6-4 and move into the next round.
