US Open champion Andy Murray has been drawn to play either Australia's Bernard Tomic or Germany's Florian Mayer in his opening match at the Shanghai Masters.
Murray has won the Masters Series event in China for the past two years but he will face a tough test against the talented Australian youngster or the world number 30 Mayer.
The 25-year-old lost to Canada's Milos Raonic in the semi-finals of last week's Japan Open.
World number one Roger Federer will face either Lu Yen-Hsun or Zhang Ze, while Novak Djokovic will face Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov.
