World number nine Richard Gasquet says that it is "an amazing feeling" to have reached the semi-finals of the US Open.
The Frenchman came out on top of a thrilling match with David Ferrer in the last eight with a 6-3 6-1 4-6 2-6 6-3 win at Flushing Meadows.
Gasquet admits that he was still feeling the effects of his brutal five-hour victory over Milos Raonic in the fourth round but is delighted to have advanced past Ferrer.
"I played a great match at the start despite the wind in the stadium," Gasquet told reporters. "But David is a great fighter and I was a little tired after a big match with Raonic.
"I got the break in the final set and it's an amazing feeling to be in the semi-finals. I have played a lot of five sets in my career but I still needed to play big to get the victory."
Gasquet will now face Rafael Nadal for a place in the final.
