AC Milan have confirmed they will appeal the red card shown to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Sunday's Serie A clash with Napoli.
The Swedish international was dismissed, and since handed a three-game suspension, for slapping Napoli Salvatore Aronica in the goalless draw at the San Siro.
"AC Milan announce to appeal the decision of the Sporting judge that banned the player Zlatan Ibrahimovic for three games," read a statement on the club's official website.
If the appeal is unsuccessful Ibrahimovic will miss the top-of-the-table clash against Juventus, who are currently a point clear in Italy's top divison.
Ibrahimovic has scored 15 times this season and lies second in the Serie A scorers' list, one behind Udinese's Antonio Di Natale.
