Arsenal have confirmed that striker Yaya Sanogo will spend next season on loan at Ajax.
The 22-year-old Frenchman had been expected to join the Dutch giants on a temporary deal.
Sanogo scored one goal in six games for the Gunners last season before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Crystal Palace.
The forward, who has been at the Emirates Stadium for two years, went on to find the net once in 11 appearances for Palace.
"He needs to play," Arsene Wenger told Arsenal's official website. "He came to us injured and it took us a while to get him to the top level. He's ready to play now and I'm sure he can be a good signing for Ajax.
"He has an opportunity to play in the Champions League with Ajax, which is good experience. We have a good relationship with them and hopefully he can have a great season."
Sanogo scored five goals in eight games for France's Under-21 side between 2011 and 2014.
