Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Olivier Giroud's goal against West Ham United will help the Arsenal striker "adapt very quickly" to the Premier League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was pleased with Olivier Giroud's performance against West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Frenchman scored his first league goal for the Gunners to help them win 3-1 at Upton Park.

"In similar situations he nearly scored like that against Olympiakos on Wednesday night [in the Champions League]," Wenger is quoted as saying on Arsenal's official website.

"He was good today. He had the physical presence and scored the goal. That will help him a lot I think to adapt very quickly."

Arsenal are now fifth in the league table with 12 points from seven matches.
