Jack Wilshere has said that he thinks England should defy FIFA's ban on England players wearing an embroidered poppy on their shirts during Saturday's friendly against Spain at Wembley.
FIFA have repeatedly refused pleas by the FA to allow the England team to modify their shirts on "political, religious or commercial" grounds.
"England team should wear poppies on Saturday," Wilshere tweeted.
"It's the nation's tradition and it would be disrespectful not to! My great granddad fought for this country in WW2 and I'm sure a lot of people's grandparents did so WearThePoppy."
The FA have planned a moment of silence, black armbands and modified training kits in the wake of the ban.
