Borussia Dortmund have reportedly confirmed that defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is on his way to Arsenal.
Sky Sports News claims to have heard from the German club's sporting director Michael Zorc that the deal could be announced on July 1.
The 29-year-old Greece international, who has one year remaining on his Dortmund contract, has been tipped to sign a three-year deal with Arsenal.
According to the broadcaster, the transfer is yet to be finalised but is on course to be completed by the start of the new tax quarter in Germany, which begins in July.
New Arsenal boss Unai Emery has already added experience to his defence this summer with the signing of Swiss veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner from Italian giants Juventus.
