Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly suffered a setback in their pursuit of Monaco star Thomas Lemar.
Both Premier League clubs have been heavily linked with swoops for the France international.
The Reds have a spot to fill following the departure of Philippe Coutinho, while Arsenal were dealt a blow when Alexis Sanchez joined Manchester United.
However, the Gunners managed to get a player in the deal as Henrikh Mkhitaryan has swapped places with the Chilean.
As for Lemar, the Daily Star reports that that the 22-year-old, who signed for Monaco from Caen in 2015, has decided that he wants to join Barcelona.
This season, the midfielder has scored three goals and produced five assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
