Lucas Torreira has joined Atletico Madrid from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal.
The 24-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Sampdoria in 2018 and was persistently linked with a return to Serie A during the summer transfer window.
The Uruguay international has fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium and has found himself behind Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos and Mohamed Elneny in the Arsenal pecking order this season.
Torreira has now put pen to paper on a season-long loan with Atletico on the same day that Arsenal announced the arrival of Thomas Partey from the La Liga side.
The midfielder endeared himself to Arsenal supporters in perfect fashion by notching up his first goal for the club in a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2018-19 campaign, and Torreira has since gone on to register four goals in 89 appearances for the Gunners.
Arsenal waved goodbye to another midfielder on loan during transfer deadline day as Matteo Guendouzi joined Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin for the 2020-21 campaign.
