Arsenal have reportedly edged ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign wantaway Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
The 28-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Parc des Princes since swapping Newcastle United for the French capital last January.
Consequently, rumours of a winter exit have gathered pace, with United and Liverpool believed to be weighing up £19m moves.
However, the Frenchman is keen on teaming up with compatriot and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger in North London, according to The Metro.
Wenger is thought to be a long-term admirer of the playmaker, who briefly went on strike with the Magpies after they blocked a £12m move to the Emirates Stadium back in 2013.
Les Parisiens, who spent £20m on Cabaye, are reportedly willing to accept a loss on the investment in order to remove him from their books.
