Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has claimed that Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has asked to join the French club on loan.
The 21-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot with the Gunners, having made just six appearances for them this season.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he would prefer Sanogo to go out on loan to another Premier League side, but Triaud insists that the Frenchman will make a return to his homeland.
"Sanogo wants to come to Bordeaux on loan," Triaud told Gold FM. "And he has informed Arsene Wenger [about his wish]. We've asked for Arsenal to give us a response on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest."
Sanogo has scored one goal for Arsenal this season against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
