Ciaran Clark urges patience from Aston Villa fans after the club's difficult start.

Aston Villa centre-back Ciaran Clark has asked the club to remain patient with manager Paul Lambert.

Clark said that Lambert, whose Villa side have lost their opening two Premier League games, has the right ideas and that the change of philosophy will take time to get results.

"We are being encouraged to get the ball down and pass it every day in training, which is very different to what we have been used to over the last couple of years when we have been encouraged to play a more route one style," Clark told ESPN.

"All the lads here have thoroughly enjoyed the way the new manager has gone about things so far, but everyone may need to show a little bit of patience as we look to adapt to the new way of thinking.

"People start to panic a little when you have a couple of disappointing results, but that panic does not exist in our dressing room. All of us believe we will get it right in the end and we just need to convert the work on the training ground into the Premier League now."

Clark has started both of Villa's league games so far this season.
