Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has signed a new five-year deal at Aston Villa, contracting him to the club until 2020.
Westwood, who has made 103 appearances for Villa since joining from Crewe Alexandra for around £2m in 2011, played 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.
Speaking on the club's official website, he said: "I am extremely pleased to sign a new contract and commit my future to Aston Villa.
"I was made to feel very welcome from the moment I first walked through the door and I'm very happy at the club.
"I believe I'm now entering what I hope will be the peak years of my career and I look forward to spending them here."
The news comes two days before Tim Sherwood's side host Manchester United in their first home game of the new Premier League season on Friday night.
