Matias Kranevitter has admitted that he will "look elsewhere" if he fails to make the grade at Atletico Madrid.
The Argentine midfielder only joined Atletico from River Plate in January 2016, but spent last season on loan at Sevilla.
The 24-year-old, as it stands, will return to Atletico for pre-season training next month, but he has conceded that a return to River could be on the cards in a bid to secure first-team football.
"If I don't play at Atletico Madrid, I'll have to look elsewhere," Kranevitter told ESPN. "River are an option, or if not them then it'll be elsewhere. The most important thing for me is to play.
"I was always happy at River, it was very difficult to leave River, but what I have in mind now is to return to Atletico Madrid. I dream about succeeding in Europe. It's what every footballer dreams about from a young age. I'll begin pre-season with Atletico in a few days."
Kranevitter made 21 La Liga appearances while on loan at Sevilla last season.
