Barcelona defender Dani Alves has vowed to help manager Tito Vilanova in any way possible as he recovers from an operation to remove a tumour from his parotid gland.
Vilanova was discharged from hospital on Saturday, just 48 hours after undergoing the operation, and now faces six weeks of chemotherapy.
Alves revealed that he and his teammates were lifted by the news of Vilanova's quick recovery and will do anything in their power to help their manager.
"It was a surprise and we were happy to know that he was already at home [after the operation]. We're ready to help in any way he needs. Football is secondary right now. He is fighting for his life," Alves told Brazilian newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo.
Barcelona currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Primera Division table having dropped just two points from their opening 17 games.
