Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has said that second in the Bundesliga this season is not an option for the Bavarian giants.
Borussia Dortmund have lifted the title in the previous two seasons and Lahm believes that they must start as favourites to retain their crown.
The German international believes that Jurgen Klopp's men are acting modest in a bid to deflect the mounting pressure.
However, he has also backed Schalke 04 to challenge for honours this season.
"Dortmund are deliberately acting modest, and let's face it, it's served them well over the last two seasons," Lahm told Bayern's official website. "But I think the club that have won back-to-back titles start as favourites.
"There are other title candidates - I have Schalke on my radar for example, they'll be there or thereabouts."
"We had become used to winning the Bundesliga at least every second season, but we fell short, and that basically cannot be. The title is our priority. I definitely still have a deep yearning for more trophies."
Lahm has won four league titles during his time at the Allianz Arena.
