Blackpool boss Ian Holloway confirms that Barry Ferguson can leave the club.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has confirmed that experienced midfielder Barry Ferguson can leave the club.

The 34-year-old has been made available for loan in an attempt to secure regular football, but Holloway has also revealed that the club are keen to offload Ferguson's wages.

"If someone comes in and takes up his wages, he can go. He wants to play football and I don't guarantee anyone that. I wouldn't look to replace Barry with another midfielder. It's an area we are strong in," Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette.

"We paid Birmingham £750,000 for Barry, so if they want him on loan our chairman thinks they should take up his wages rather than do a player swap. If they offer us someone from their first team, then maybe we'd look at a swap."

A host of Championship clubs are understood to be monitoring proceedings.
