New Burnley signing Wout Weghorst has admitted that it is a risk for him to have joined the club due to their position in the Premier League table.

New Burnley signing Wout Weghorst has admitted that joining the club is a risk for him.

The striker signed for the Clarets on deadline day, making the move from Wolfsburg for £12m, with Sean Dyche bringing him in to replace Chris Wood, who moved to Newcastle United earlier in the window.

"I get a lot of appreciation from Burnley and got a good feeling with the people, the owner and the coach, who really want me and have done everything for me," he told NPO Radio 1.

"Of course, it is a risk, and you are aware of the place in the league table at the moment. It will be an absolute challenge to make sure we stay in the Premier League."

Right now, the Clarets find themselves bottom of the division, having only won a single game this season, with four points separating them and Norwich City, who sit just outside of the relegation zone.

They will be in action against Watford this Saturday, in what is a crucial match within the relegation battle.
