Cambridge United 'close in on Ryan Ledson loan signing'

Everton midfield prospect Ryan Ledson will reportedly be sent out on loan to Cambridge United to gain some further experience.

Everton youngster Ryan Ledson is to be sent out on loan to League Two club Cambridge United, according to a report.

The 18-year-old has been touted as the next big talent to emerge from the Toffees' youth ranks, following in the footsteps of England international duo Wayne Rooney and Ross Barkley.

Ledson, who captained the Young Lions to Under-17 Euro 2014 success, will now be given the chance to feature at first-team level in the Football League as part of his development into a future Everton regular.

According to the Daily Mail, the teenager's loan switch to Cambridge is close to being completed, where he is expected to play on a consistent basis.

Ledson's only senior appearance for Everton so far came in last season's Europa League dead-rubber clash with FC Krasnodar at Goodison Park.
