Charlton Athletic boss Bob Peeters: 'Draw was fair against Birmingham City'

Bob Peeters admits that his Charlton Athletic side didn't do enough to beat Birmingham City in this afternoon's Championship match at The Valley.

Charlton Athletic head coach Bob Peeters has conceded that his side only deserved a point from this afternoon's Championship match against Birmingham City.

A draw extended the Addicks' unbeaten start to 11 games, but they missed the chance to go level on points at the top of the table as sides around them also failed to win.

After Igor Vetokele's 11th-minute opener, Birmingham earned a point thanks to David Davis's 53rd-minute leveller.

"If we won today we would have been top of the league, but credit to [Birmingham]; they conceded the goal and got back and they deserved the draw," Peeters told the club's official website.

"At half time we tried to put everything in place. We came out pretty well, got the first chance but it wasn't good enough.

"We conceded a goal through three legs and it goes in but, overall, it was a fair result."

Going into the two-week international break, Charlton currently lie sixth but will be out of the playoffs if Ipswich Town avoid defeat at Nottingham Forest in tomorrow's sole game.
