Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that only Jorginho is in a position to return to the first-team squad for Wednesday's EFL Cup tie at Brentford.
The Blues were missing as many as eight players for Sunday's Premier League fixture at Wolverhampton Wanderers, the majority of them having tested positive for coronavirus.
That situation, combined with Brentford's own outbreak, put the quarter-final clash at risk, but it currently appears that the match will go ahead as planned.
While Tuchel has acknowledged that Jorginho will come back into contention, the Italian will likely only act as a direct replacement for Trevoh Chalobah.
Speaking to players at a press conference, Tuchel said: "No players will be returning from apart from Jorginho. He had a negative test, so it was obviously a wrong-positive. He is back in training.
"Andreas Christensen is very doubtful through injury, and so is Trevoh Chalobah."
On Monday, Tuchel promoted many of the club's academy players to first-team training, a sign that several will be named in the group which will take on the Bees.
