Andre Villas-Boas believes that a stadium relocation for Chelsea would be in the "best" interests of the club.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has welcomed the Blues' bid to relocate from Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League club have been eager to build a new ground, but a number of the club's supporters have not been open to the switch.

"The most important thing for us is to position ourselves regarding our future," said Villas-Boas. "The club has made a wise decision in that sense.

"I'm not in a position to say how the fans will react, and how they are reacting. In the beginning, disappointment regarding the loss - or not - of an historic site can mean something.

"But eventually, if we move or not, things will be for the best for sure."

Chelsea resume their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Everton this weekend.
