Frank Lampard 'available to face former club Chelsea on Sunday'

Frank Lampard has reportedly not asked Manchester City not to select him against his former club Chelsea this Sunday, therefore making him available to play.

Frank Lampard could go up against former club Chelsea in Manchester City colours this weekend, despite rumours that he asked not to be selected.

The former England international ended his 13-year association with the Blues in the summer by signing for new MLS franchise New York City.

Before joining up with the US club in 2015, Lampard will spend the next six months on loan at City in order to maintain his fitness.

Reports emerged claiming that the midfielder had asked not to be selected to play against Chelsea, but according to The Telegraph, senior figures at the Etihad Stadium have stated that no request was made by Lampard.

The 36-year-old made his City debut in last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates, but only lasted 45 minutes before being substituted.
