Chelsea are lining up a January move for Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, reports suggest.
It is thought that, with Fernando Torres's form still faltering, the Blues want a marquee signing to add firepower to their side.
According to The Express, Gomez is understood to be top of the wishlist, though Chelsea would have to pay upwards of £40m for Bayern to accept a bid for the Germany international.
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at the German giants after sustaining a troublesome ankle injury that kept him on the sidelines.
The impressive form of Mario Mandzukic has also left Gomez on the bench, with coach Jupp Heynckes preferring the Croatian to lead the line so far this season.
The Champions League holders are hoping to capitalise on Gomez's lack of action and convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.
Gomez was in prolific form for Bayern last season, ending it as the club's top scorer with 43 goals in all competitions.
