Chelsea have reportedly identified Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao as a £45m transfer target.
Blues owner Roman Abramovich was rumoured to be impressed by Falcao's display against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup last month.
The Russian believes that Fernando Torres needs support in attack and is ready to swoop for the Colombia international, according to The Sun.
A club source told the newspaper: "The groundwork is already being done for Falcao.
"The owner wants everything in place now so a deal can be done before any other club can make a counter-offer."
The 26-year-old moved to Madrid from Porto last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £35m.
