Chelsea sent a scout to watch Marseille striker Loic Remy over the weekend, according to reports.
The European champions have only two recognised strikers in their ranks, which has been highlighted by Roberto Di Matteo starting Fernando Torres in each of the club's matches this season.
However, according to Le 10sport, the two clubs have already discussed the possibility of Remy switching to Stamford Bridge in January and a scout was present to watch Remy during Marseille's 2-2 draw with Paris Saint-Germain.
It is believed that Remy would act as a replacement for Daniel Sturridge, whom Chelsea could sell if they were successful with a bid for the French forward.
