Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta open to future Inter Milan move

Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta suggests that he may be open to a move to Inter Milan if he does not regain his place in the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta has revealed that Inter Milan have registered an interest in his signature.

Zappacosta was used on 35 occasions during his first campaign at Stamford Bridge, but a change in formation from new boss Maurizio Sarri could work against the right-sided player.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses are ahead of the 26-year-old in the pecking order, and with Inter having emerged as admirers of the Italian, the former Torino man has not ruled out a return to his homeland.

Zappacosta is quoted by the London Evening Standard as saying: "Could I return to Italy? Yes, Inter Milan had been after me. My agent Alessandro Lucci had told me about their interest, although I've always remained focused on Chelsea.

"Could I return in January? I have three more years on my contract here and I only want to think about doing well with Chelsea.

"There's a lot of competition here, but I want to win a place in the team. After that, it's clear that if I didn't find much room, I don't think any player would like that."

Zappacosta has only been an unused substitute in Chelsea's opening three Premier League fixtures of the season.
