England captain Wayne Rooney has said that he is delighted to have become the country's all-time leading goalscorer.
The 29-year-old scored his 50th international goal with a late penalty as England claimed a 2-0 victory over Switzerland in their Euro 2016 qualifier.
"It's a great feeling," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "I've been close for the last few games and it's a dream come true.
"I was bit emotional, it's a huge honour and one I am extremely proud of. I knew it was a big moment and just picked my corner and put my foot through it. To be the record scorer before the age of 30 is nothing I could have imagined."
Rooney made his debut for England in a friendly defeat against Australia in 2003.
