Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam insists that Scotland will not be starstruck when they face old rivals England at Wembley on Wednesday.

Charlie Adam has insisted that Scotland will not be intimidated by England's star-studded lineup when they face off in the first meeting between the home nations in over 14 years at Wembley on Wednesday.

The Three Lions are heavily fancied to claim a victory against their old rivals, but Scotland did win impressively last time out - a 1-0 win over Croatia in Zagreb in June.

"We don't feel inferior about going to Wembley and playing the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard or Wayne Rooney," Adam told reporters. "We are going there to play 11 against 11 and to try to win the game.

"The lads play against them every week in the Premier League and they are good quality players, but we have good quality players as well and so many of them play in England.

"We are a smaller nation to them. That is how they will think. But we have to go there and frustrate them. Yes, they are a good side with top players. But this is a chance for us to show that there are good players in our team. It is a game against your rivals and one that we want to win."

Midfielder Adam, now of Stoke City, played alongside England skipper Gerrard during his time at Liverpool.
