Preview: England vs. Scotland

Sports Mole looks ahead to Wednesday's friendly between British rivals England and Scotland.

One of international football's biggest rivalries will be renewed on Wednesday evening at Wembley when England take on Scotland.

The two nations have not met since their Euro 2000 playoff back in 1999, which England won 2-1 on aggregate thanks to two goals from former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes at Hampden Park.

As it stands, there is very little to separate the two countries from their head to head records.

From their 110 meetings, England have won on 45 occasions, while the Scots have claimed 41 victories.

Wayne Rooney is expected to feature for the Three Lions, despite recent hamstring and shoulder injuries, while Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is also likely to be included.

Meanwhile, visiting Scotland could include Premier League-based Charlie Adam and James Morrison in their midfield.

Recent form:

England: LWWDDD

Scotland: LWWLLW

Possible lineups:

England: Hart; Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines; Carrick, Gerrard, Milner, Wilshere, Walcott; Rooney

Scotland: McGregor; Martin, Hanley, Martin, Mulgrew; Brown, Adam, Morrison, McArthur, Boyd; Rhodes

Sports Mole says: 1-0
