The FA reportedly want a quick decision from Gareth Southgate regarding his future as England manager following their quarter-final exit from the World Cup.

The Football Association reportedly want a quick decision from Gareth Southgate regarding his future.

Southgate has been in charge of the national team since 2016 and has overseen a successful spell that includes a World Cup quarter and semi-final, as well as a final appearance at Euro 2020.

However, following England's 2-1 loss to France at the World Cup, his future has come under question, with the 52-year-old currently taking some time to think about his next step whilst taking a break with his family following the completion of England's tournament.

According to the Daily Mail, Southgate will be asked for a quick decision over his future by the FA to give his employers time to find a replacement if required.

The report states that the FA have no credible replacements to hand, with Graham Potter and Eddie Howe both committed to Chelsea and Newcastle United respectively.

With the European Championship qualifiers starting in two months, Southgate is conscious of not leaving the FA in a tough situation should he depart, especially since the next Euros is only 18 months away.
