Everton manager David Moyes has urged caution from fans towards the development of Ross Barkley this season.
The 19-year-old has started two of the last three games for the Blues and has excited supporters with flashes of his talent, but Moyes feels that the teenager still has "a long way to go" before he becomes the finished product.
"He has a lot of maturing to do and make sure he does not lose the ball in the wrong areas on the pitch," Moyes told reporters.
"There has been a lot of stuff said because he came in and did okay on Tuesday [against Arsenal] and did better against Tottenham Hotspur. But he has a long way to go and you should not expect to see him regularly."
Barkley was brought on after 77 minutes in today's 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.
