Stoke City climbed above Everton in the Premier League by claiming a 1-0 victory at Goodison Park on Boxing Day.

Bojan scored the winner for the visitors in the 38th minute by firing home a penalty after being brought down in the box by James McCarthy.

Below, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed as Stoke handed the travelling supporters a Christmas gift.

EVERTON

Goal

Tim Howard: The American was given no chance when Bojan fired home from the spot, and his afternoon came to an early end when he was forced off with an injury at the break. (6/10)

Defence

Seamus Coleman: Struggled to have the impact he would have liked going forward, but he was calm at the back, unlike a number of his teammates. (6/10)

John Stones: Disappointing return for the young defender, who never seemed to recover after being hurt in a challenge early on. Caught out of position on a number of occasions when Stoke sent players forward. (5/10)

Phil Jagielka: The England international added to Everton's injury concerns by coming off at the break. Made a couple of crucial clearances, but he looked uncomfortable when Bojan found the space to run at the defence. (5/10)

Leighton Baines: Everton fans expect so much from the left-back, but this wasn't one of his better performances. He looked nervy at the back, while Jonathan Walters tracked him impressively when he did get forward. (5/10)

Midfield

Gareth Barry: Always looked comfortable in possession, but he was unable to pick out his creative teammates on a regular basis. (6/10)

James McCarthy: Delighted the fans by returning from injury, but it was a tough day for the midfielder. Committed the foul which handed Stoke the penalty and he was prevented from making an impact further up the pitch. (5/10)

Ross Barkley: Started the match on the wing, which still doesn't seem to bring the best out of the talented youngster. Busy on the ball, but Stoke reduced the space on offer to him in the final third of the pitch. (6/10)

Steven Naismith: The Scot led the fight for the hosts with his lively attacking play, but he was left frustrated by Stoke's stubborn defending. (6/10)

Kevin Mirallas: Another one of Everton's players to return from injury, but he was well short of his best. The Belgian was sloppy in possession, while his end product was a constant source of frustration for the home fans. (5/10)

Attack

Romelu Lukaku: It's difficult to criticise the striker, who showed a willingness to fight even when it wasn't going his way in attack. A victim of his side's lack of creativity as Everton failed to provide him with the right service. (6/10)

Substitutes

Joel Robles: The Spanish goalkeeper wasn't asked to do much after replacing Howard as Stoke dropped deeper to defend their lead. (6/10)

Antolin Alcaraz: Made one vital clearance to prevent Stoke from doubling their advantage, but sent a header over the crossbar at the other end when Everton were on top. (6/10)

Samuel Eto'o: The forward looked eager to get involved after being sent on, but he struggled to make an impact in attack. (5/10)

Goal

Asmir Begovic: The Bosnian looked nervy early on when he spilled a couple of crosses, but he made some good saves to frustrate the hosts. (6/10)

Defence

Geoff Cameron: Handled Baines impressively when the Everton full-back came forward, and he proved to be a good outlet going forward on the wing. (7/10)

Ryan Shawcross: A typically commanding display from the centre-back. He battled Lukaku impressively and made a few vital tackles to keep the hosts out. (8/10)

Marc Muniesa: A perfect partner for Shawcross as he regularly stepped out from the back to confront the likes of Naismith and Barkley. (7/10)

Erik Pieters: Impressive performance from the full-back, who saved his side on two occasions in the second half with important challenges in the box. (8/10)

Midfield

Glenn Whelan: Frustrated Everton by always getting a foot in when it mattered most. Kept the ball impressively on a day when he was forced to sit in front of the back four. (6/10)

Steven N'Zonzi: A superb display from the French midfielder. Excellent at both ends of the pitch as he made a number of vital tackles and launched attacks with some impressive passing. (8/10)

Jonathan Walters: Epitomised the Stoke performance with his energetic performance. Rushed back to cover Cameron when Baines stormed forward, and he was always a willing runner at the other end. (7/10)

Marko Arnautovic: The Austrian may not enjoy the defensive side of the game, but it didn't show today. He tracked back impressively on the wing, while also showing his quality in attacking areas on a regular basis. (8/10)

Bojan: The Spaniard delivered the goods again by winning and scoring the penalty which secured the points. Provided the extra piece of quality Stoke needed before coming off in the second half. (7/10)

Attack

Mame Biram Diouf: Much like Lukaku for the hosts, the strike was starved of the service he wanted, but he led the line well with his eagerness to chase down longer balls. Held up the ball impressively when Stoke defender their lead in the second half. (6/10)

Substitutes

Charlie Adam: Came on for Bojan to add another body to the Stoke midfield. Broke up play well, but he was perhaps fortunate not to pick up a second yellow card for kicking the ball away in stoppage time. (6/10)

Oussama Assaidi: Continued Arnautovic's good works by protecting Pieters on the wing in the closing stages of the match. (5/10)

Peter Crouch: Unable to get involved in the game after replacing Diouf in stoppage time. (5/10)
