Former Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has begun talks with Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce about their managerial vacancy.
In an unconventional move, the side announced on its website that the 68-year-old was in negotiations to take the reins in Istanbul following the dismissal of Vitor Pereira.
Advocaat resigned from his role as assistant manager to the Netherlands national side on Monday just three months into the job after receiving "an unbelievable offer" from Fenerbahce, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.
If appointed, Advocaat's first game in charge of Fenerbahce could be the Europa League playoff encounter with Grasshoppers Zurich on Thursday.
Advocaat joined Sunderland in March 2015, guiding the relegation-threatened Black Cats to Premier League safety with a game to spare. The Dutchman opted to stay on for the following campaign but resigned last October after the club had failed to win any of their first eight matches.
