Gian Piero Gasperini targets Napoli upset

Genoa manager Gian Piero Gasperini says that his team are confident of causing an upset when they face Napoli on Monday evening.

Genoa manager Gian Piero Gasperini has said that his team are confident of causing an upset when they face Napoli in Serie A on Monday evening.

The Rossoblu have picked up points against AC Milan, Inter Milan and Fiorentina this season, and Gasperini believes that they are capable of earning a positive result in Naples.

"Napoli are at the top table of Serie A, a team with clearly defined characteristics and clear quality," he told reporters.

"At times Napoli play in attack with such pace and technique that they are difficult to control. They pin you back with their pressing, but we certainly do not plan to just go there and defend ourselves.

"This is an opportunity, after our results against Inter and Fiorentina, to again prove we can compete with the top clubs. We've picked up points in some tough arenas before."

Genoa are currently 11th in the Serie A table.
