Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has praised Joachim Low's World Cup winners after they beat Argentina 1-0 in Sunday's final.
Mario Gotze's extra-time winner meant that the Germans became the first European nation to win a World Cup in South America, and Beckenbauer backed his compatriots to establish themselves as the dominant force in international football.
"Joachim Low has done everything right," he told Sky Sports News. "The German team is entirely worthy world champions, because it was the best team in this tournament.
"They were the best ambassadors for Germany it was the success of the whole team, we had no [Lionel] Messi or [Cristiano] Ronaldo, we had no absolute superstar. The superstar was the team.
"The German team will be very hard to beat. I will not make the mistake and say they will be unbeatable for years to come."
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola congratulated Low's side on their triumph.
