Getafe cruise to win over Las Palmas

Getafe make it three games unbeaten in La Liga by thrashing Las Palmas 4-0.

Getafe have extended their unbeaten run to three La Liga games by beating Las Palmas 4-0 at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

Two early strikes were key for the home side and Las Palmas were unable to produce any kind of response before Stefan Scepovic struck twice late on to clinch the win after Emmanuel Culio had been sent off.

The deadlock was broken in just the third minute when Alvaro Vazquez raced on to a long ball before crossing to Victor Rodriguez, who tapped into an empty net from close range.

Getafe soon doubled their advantage when the influential Pedro Leon created space for a cross which Pablo Sarabia headed in at the back post.

It could have been 3-0 before the break had Javi Varas not got a strong hand to Vazquez's low strike, and the Las Palmas goalkeeper came to the rescue once again early in the second half with a fine save to deny the lively attacker.

The visitors rarely threatened, but they could have made it an exciting finish when a cross reached Willian Jose, who could only head over the crossbar.

Their challenge was ended with 10 minutes of normal time remaining as Culio picked up a red card for coming off the ground to catch Moi Gomez with a dangerous challenge.

Gomez then created the third goal with a superb run and cross on the left, which allowed fellow substitute Scepovic to slot home an easy finish.

Scepovic completed an emphatic win in stoppage time by finding enough space in the box to head home an inviting cross from Roberto Lago.
