Frank Arnesen admits that he made the right career move by joining Hamburger SV.

Hamburger SV sporting director Frank Arnesen has admitted that joining the club in 2011 was the correct decision for his career.

Arnesen said that he has had to bring down the average age of the squad but that Hamburg are now in a position to push for consistent European qualification.

"Coming to Hamburg was a good decision," Bild quotes Arnesen as saying. "It has not always been easy; when I came, we had nine players over 30. HSV is a very big club.

"We have a young team now and are on the right track. However, the financial foundation needs to be stronger for us to consistently qualify for either the Champions League or the Europa League."

Hamburg are sixth in the Bundesliga.
