Chris Powell disappointed as Huddersfield Town lose at Charlton Athletic

Manager Chris Powell is disappointed with how his team played in their 3-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell has admitted that his side let themselves down in their 3-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic in the Championship this afternoon.

Tony Watt scored twice in the second half after Johann Berg Gudmundsson's free kick had given the Londoners a half-time lead.

Huddersfield rarely threatened to score and Powell is disappointed with how they played against his former club.

He told Huddersfield's official website "We were second best all day, we never got ourselves going. There's no excuse, we just didn't perform. That's a shame, because we've earned good points on the road recently through good performances and today we let ourselves down.

"My team didn't really reflect what I want from them and the players know they didn't do themselves justice. We were below our normal standards today."

Huddersfield next face playoff hopefuls Brentford on Tuesday.
