Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies has signed a new deal with the club until 2018.
The 24-year-old's previous contract was due to expire at the end of next season.
Smithies, who made his Huddersfield debut back in 2007, has played 32 games in all competitions this term.
"Keepers get better with age and experience and we are seeing that with Alex," manager Chris Powell told the club's official website. "I'm delighted Alex has committed his long-term future to the club."
Smithies scored the winning penalty for Huddersfield in their League One playoff final victory over Sheffield United in 2012.
