New Huddersfield boss Jan Siewert has added Andreas Winkler to his coaching team.
Winkler, 49, had been working under head coach Daniel Stendel at League One side Barnsley since June 2018.
He was the head of academy at Rot-Weiss Essen for 14 years and worked with Siewert there during the latter's stint as head coach.
The club announced that Winkler, who started his playing career at Bayern Munich, will travel with the squad on their four-day training camp in Portugal.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol City earlier this month, the Terriers do not have a game this weekend and return to action with a home tie against Everton on Tuesday.
Huddersfield are bottom of the table with just 11 points from 23 games and are currently 10 points adrift of safety. Former head coach David Wagner left the club by mutual consent on January 14.
