Roberto Di Matteo has reportedly opened talks with Lazio about becoming the Italian club's new manager.
The 45-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving Schalke 04 last year, is believed to be a target for new Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia.
However, according to Sky Sports News, Di Matteo was in Rome on Saturday to speak to Lazio about replacing Simone Inzaghi.
The 40-year-old was placed in interim charge of the Serie A outfit in April following the sacking of Stefano Pioli.
Di Matteo won the FA Cup and Champions League with Chelsea as manager in the 2011-12 season.
