Former Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler has reportedly held talks with Leeds United over becoming the club's next manager.
Current coach Neil Redfearn is expected to be sacked by the Championship side by the end of the week.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino claimed on Monday that he was close to appointing a new manager at Elland Road.
Rosler, who has been out of work since being dismissed by Wigan in November, is now in discussions with the club, according to BBC Sport.
Leeds finished the Championship season in 15th place in the table.
