Steve Evans: 'Lee Erwin must prove his worth to Leeds United'

Steve Evans tells returning forward Lee Erwin to show that he is "good enough" to be a part of his first-team plans at Leeds United.

Leeds United boss Steve Evans has warned Lee Erwin that a failure to impress him will lead to a parting of ways.

The 21-year-old has yet to make his debut for the Whites since joining from Motherwell in the summer.

Having revealed in September that he was keen on a temporary move away, the forward's wish was granted when being loaned to Bury for a month.

Erwin is now back at Elland Road, though, with Evans claiming that the youngster - whom he tried to sign while in charge of Rotherham United - could very much be a part of his first-team plans.

Speaking to the club's official website, the Scotsman said: "He has to demonstrate that he's good enough to be here because, if he's not, he'll end up back in Scotland.

"But he's a confident boy. I rang him as soon as I took over to remind him that I'm a manager who was keen to try and secure his services.

"I like him, I tried to do something at Rotherham. I went up to Scotland to watch him twice and I'd say that for one-and-a-half of the two games, he did really well and in the other half he did okay."

During his time at Bury, culminating in Saturday's 4-3 win over Blackpool, Erwin was used a total of three times.
