Bournemouth confirm the signing of midfielder Tyler Adams from Leeds United on a five-year deal for a reported £23m.

Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of midfielder Tyler Adams from Leeds United.

The USA international joins the Cherries on a five-year contract until the summer of 2028 and becomes the seventh player to arrive at the Vitality Stadium in the summer transfer window.

Bournemouth are believed to have paid £23m including add-ons to sign Adams, who follows Milos Kerkez, Justin Kluivert, Ionut Radu, Max Aarons, Alex Scott and Romain Faivre to the South Coast.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club's website: "We're thrilled to have brought Tyler to the club and he is a player we've admired for a long time.

"It's been widely documented how much his talents have been recognised in this transfer window by other clubs, so to have him sign for AFC Bournemouth shows the ambition we have as a club.

"Tyler is an exciting player who possesses plenty of experience for someone that is just 24 years of age and we're looking forward to working with him as he's a player we know will be a great addition to our squad."

Adams made his senior breakthrough with the New York Red Bulls in his homeland before earning a move to RB Leipzig in 2019, where he made 103 appearances, scoring two goals and setting up four more.

The 24-year-old won the 2021-22 DFB Pokal with Die Roten Bullen, but he left not long after, following compatriot and former Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch to Leeds for £14.5m last year.

Adams made 26 appearances for the Whites during his only season at Elland Road, starting 24 Premier League matches before his season was curtailed by a serious hamstring injury.

Adams's efforts were not enough to help Leeds stave off relegation to the Championship, and it was reported that his Whites contract included a £20m relegation clause, allowing him to depart for a relatively modest fee this summer.

Chelsea were believed to have triggered that option earlier this month, and Adams even underwent a medical with the Blues before the West London giants backed out of a deal at the eleventh hour.

Instead, Chelsea completed a lucrative double swoop for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, opening the door for Bournemouth to bring Adams back to the top flight of English football for the 2023-24 season.

A 36-cap USA international, Adams was a part of the Yanks' CONCACAF Nations League-winning squad in 2021 and captained his side to the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup, playing every minute in Qatar.

However, the midfielder did not feature in any of Leeds' opening four games of the 2023-24 season as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, and Whites boss Daniel Farke admitted last month that Adams may not return until after September's international break.

Bournemouth suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in Saturday's Premier League contest and are next in action at home to Tottenham Hotspur in a lunchtime kickoff on August 26.
