Nigel Pearson: 'We need to be ruthless'

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson believes that his side need to be more clinical in the final third to get back to form in the Premier League after a run of three defeats.

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has urged his side to be more ruthless in both penalty areas to stop their recent slump in form in the Premier League.

The Foxes have lost their last three matches in the top flight as they have failed to find the net, while they have kept just one clean sheet in the entirety of the campaign.

Pearson told the club's official website: "The difference is at this level you get fewer chances and you need to be more clinical. I think we've defended pretty well for the most part yet kept one clean sheet. It gives you an indicator of the quality of the ruthless side to the teams that you play against.

"One clean sheet so far and not scoring in enough [games] is not something that you're looking for. In the games that we've lost, we've failed to score in all of those.

"We were very unlucky last week. An own goal settled it – very unfortunate. Ultimately for us, our adaptation in the Premier League has got to be a bit more ruthless than it has been recently."

Leicester are 18th in the Premier League ahead of their clash with Southampton later today.
