Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is "the best" player in the world, but is adamant that his side can get a positive result in their Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
The Reds have taken three points from their first two matches in Europe's top competition, but Skrtel has admitted that he and his teammates will have to raise their game at Anfield on Wednesday against the reigning champions.
Skrtel told reporters: "For me, Ronaldo is the best in the world, but everyone knows the Real players – in my mind they are the best team in the world, so yeah, it is a challenge for us as a team now. You play Real Madrid in the Champions League, of course it's a real challenge.
"This is what we play for. The Champions League is the best competition in the world, because you face the best players in the world. It's a great game, and we will do our best to show we're able to compete with the best, and I believe we can get a result against them."
Madrid could be without Gareth Bale for the Group B clash with Brendan Rodgers's side.
