Everton defender Seamus Coleman says that it has been "too long" since his team last won a game against Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has said that it has been "too long" since his team last won a game against Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

The Toffees, who last tasted victory in the derby in 2010, have lost eight of their 16 meetings since that game, including their most recent, a 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup in January.

Coleman, speaking to Sky Sports News, said that this weekend may present Everton's best opportunity of a win with Liverpool facing Manchester City in a crunch Champions League tie on Tuesday evening.

"They will maybe have their eyes on that [Man City game], but Saturday is Saturday and they'll be thinking about the three points and we'll be thinking about the three points," the 29-year-old said.

"We can't hang on to the hope that they'll have one eye on a different game. We just need to win the game because it's been too long. I can only speak on behalf of ourselves and I'm going to say we are under pressure to win the game because I want that pressure, I want to win against Liverpool it's been too long.

"So bring the pressure on us and see where we'll go. The derby can change a lot, and if we win and get the confidence going into the rest of the season off that derby it'll be great and I'm really looking forward to it and really confident we can get all three points."

Liverpool are 26 points ahead of their Merseyside rivals in the table going into this weekend's fixture.
