Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with Brendan Rodgers.
The former Swansea City boss was confirmed as the Reds' new manager earlier today.
Gerrard, who had a telephone conversation with Rodgers last night, is looking forward to a bright future at Anfield under the Irishman's stewardship.
"I am excited and I am really looking forward to working with Brendan," Gerrard told reporters. "I am looking forward to meeting him in person, but the focus now is Euro 2012."
At 39 years old, Rodgers is the second-youngest manager in the Premier League. Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez, 38, is the youngest.
